Thirty years after the discovery of HIV and AIDS, the virus continues to affect millions of people in Kenya and around the world. While significant progress has been made in treatment and prevention, young people remain disproportionately affected. NCYN is committed to empowering youth with the knowledge and resources they need to protect themselves and support those living with HIV.

Understanding HIV and AIDS

HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) attacks the immune system, weakening the body's ability to fight infections and diseases. Without treatment, HIV can progress to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), a life-threatening condition. However, with early diagnosis and antiretroviral therapy (ART), people living with HIV can lead long, healthy lives.

The State of HIV Among Youth in Kenya

Kenya has made great strides in reducing new HIV infections, but challenges remain. Young people, particularly adolescent girls and young women, are at higher risk due to factors such as gender inequality, poverty, and lack of comprehensive sexual education.
